I'm with MEL on this one.
Cartex, you selectively quoted your own post. The full, relevant part of the post is:
NO ONE wanted to go there, people simply called in sick!
Now I can only interpret that the way MEL did. Crew hated the place therefore, rather than go there, they called in sick and forced those on reserve to go. Nowhere in your initial post did you suggest crew were forced to go sick. Your use of the phrase "NO ONE
wanted to go there" (my bold) implies very strongly that this was a matter of choice rather than compulsion.
Personally, I really enjoyed Bombay as did a lot of the cabin crew I flew with. I accept that the long daylight sector, with demanding passengers, up to Bombay was pretty hard for you guys. However, there was one of the best hotels in the network at the end of it, more than adequate allowances and plenty to do if you were willing to get out there and experience it. If you didn't want to get out there, you could sit very comfortably by the pool for a couple of days and then come home again.
For Sonique's benefit, MNL was similar. The allowances were adequate, but I'll admit only just. Then again (and I can't believe I'm saying this), QANTAS shouldn't be paying massive allowances (as they do in NRT for example) that allow crew to take home a few hundred bucks after a 36 hour slip. Allowances are supposed to cover your food and drink for the slip, nothing more.
Slip ports are what you make of them - like so much in life. I'm yet to find a slip port I don't like, with the possible exception of being stuck in TPE for four days. However, I NEVER went sick on them because I didn't like the place.
On the upside for you, I guess with only a few ports left for SYD based LH crew it won't be such a problem for you in future.
