How many times have you been in a sitaution whereby for some "reason" you couldn't make it to your desk job? ( I say this because you're obviously a non flyer)
And please don't reply with some sanctimonious response: "Oh, I have never done that."

FYI ....MEL we have a system of work allocation called a bid system. Individuals are allocated work on seniority. If QF had built a bit more "flexibility " in the system, then this scenario may not take place.
If management were really serious about reducing sick leave then they should invest in a system that gives crew a bit of flexibility, like they gave our S/H chums.
But "invest" in people.....................put that to your mate GD and see who BACKPEDDLES.
