During WWII, the Dutch RAF squadrons (322 and 323, among others) used English (of course), and somehow they stuck with it ever since.

I've never forgotten a conversation in the early '50s... Leeuwarden tower to a Meteor taxying out...
Tower: "Yankee 9-14, your ground power attachment panel cover is still open. Please stop and get somebody to close it."
Y9-14: "Huh?"
Tower: [repeats the same message, sounding slightly annoyed]
Y9-14: "Huh?"
Tower: "Je startklepje hangt open! Stop en wacht tot iemand het komt sluiten!"
