There is an assortment of incidents/accidents, three of them relate to the continuing hazard of CFIT.
1. The
Boeing 757-2T7, G-MONE incident at Gibraltar is discussed in
a rumours thread.
2. The
Embraer E120 Brazilia, F-GFEO incident confirms the need to fit EGPWS to all transport aircraft. Also of interest, this incident has similar crew errors as did the
HS748 incidents and
DHC-8 incident, all of the incidents occurring at IOM – repeated incidents – continuing / specific threat (hazard) at IOM?
3. The
McDonnell Douglas MD-11, N701GC incident is an example of the hazards of mis-set altimeters – incorrect QNH. There was no EGPWS warning during the approach which might have been expected.
There are not new accidents (incidents), only old ones revisited – something to for everyone to think about.
