Also, how does Emirates take care of sending your things over to Dubai? Do you get the normal two suitcases and thats it or do they allow you to bring over an excess of luggage as you are moving there?

Not too sure what the official company line is here....
But...
Lots of crew have pets... My building has Cats, Dogs, one Tortoise and a Snake.
It's really up to you to talk to your flatmate/s when you arrive if they mind you bringing your pet over. Even if they did not agree, you could find a different flatmate thats ok.
Also looking after pets whilst away... No problem.. Everyone seems to pool togther, and if ya friends happen to be away there are really good Kenals too.
