Not quite true, I was the captain! We only blew 2 of the main wheels. The rest were just scalded!! I learned about flying from that - don't change the decision to divert just because the weather "has just cleared" as you pass over destination on the way to the div and don't let a student make his first landing at Gib on a wet runway at night!!
As approaches at Gib go it was one of the better ones - no X wind or turbulence, incidentally, as I recall ATC reported "No significant standing water"
