Your old style licence is a licence issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1 and should therefore be acceptable in all ICAO States.
It has been suggested that the Swiss may not accept a National Licence from a JAA member State but I have not heard of any other country that takes that attitude. There is an English school in Spain, email them and check it out:
