Apply for all carriers and see what happens - why not apply for QANTAS long haul and perm contract straight away - I have recently left Qantas but only cos I got promotion with other carrier and its nearer home otherwise I would have stayed its a great company money not bad for only 1 trip a week...
I would deffo apply to more than one carrier then you will get a choice...
