you seem to be going about it the right way if your looking to get into ctc, they love that enthusiasm and going a step further than the others so it will definantly stand you in good stead. But if your thinking of the modular route into this wicked industry that were all trying to jump into i'd say opt for a better payed job and learn whilsyt ya earn . once licensed get a job with the airlines and get a hold of contacts such as training pilots if poss , if not anyone who could drop you a recommendment will help .
