Glad you got to Nigeria with a working MacBook in the end!
Have you tried to connect to the networked printer anyway? If it's on an ethernet network, it should work fine. You can download HP drivers from
HP's website. I've used several HP printers over different networks, without difficulty.
iMovie can do image rotation using a plug-in, available
here. There are quite a few plug-ins available for iMovie now, and it's worth checking them out.
