Unfortunately, such a suggestion is seen by most pilots - a bunch of back-to-basics anorak-wearing traditionalists - as tantamount to a declaration of war. Just want and see.... I am getting my coat.
I don't know, I think most of us would love to fly our girlfriends/wives/SOs over to Cannes for the weekend in our Eclipse 500 personal jet. Unfortunately the budget of most PPLs only extends to hiring a 30 year-old tatty spamcan to fly to somewhere within a 100 mile radius. And that somewhere is usually a very similar scruffy ex-WW2 airfield to the one we took off from
