I had the chance of a demo of the EVAS system at EBACE. Truly impressive.
For those who are not familiar, it is an inflatable plastic `bag` (wrong word but cant think of a better one!) with windows which cover your instrument panel and one in front of you to look through.
The guy filled his little fake cockpit with `smoke` such that when in the rhs I couldnt see my mate just a foot away.
In the lhs all you had to do was move your head a few inches forward and you could see the instrument pane and through the windscreen very clearly.
like all good ideas it is very simlple and VERY effective. God forbid that you might one day have to land with smoke in the cockpit, but this little device could save your life.
