Any pilot who has accumulated experience, holds a Proficiency Check on the particular aircraft he is flying and has done so for a period of time, was the "last guy" who wanted to crash and kill himself. Through the years airlines and aircraft manufacturers have avoided countless liability actions due to placing the blame for an accident on the pilot. Never flew with anyone, good or bad, who wasn't doing "the best he could", so better some worse. The weak pilots usually get illiminated from the system through things like PC's and Line Checks.

Any pilot, on the right occassion, has the ability to make a improper imput that can result in an accident. Two guys in front reduces the odds substantially, but it is always there.
