RAF Locking had a station mascot, Sgt Sparks the donkey. The duty of being his handler was one of the many glorious tasks carried out by the RAF Police.
When I was first posted to Locking he held the rank of F/Sgt but after an 'arousing' incident during the Weston-Super-Mare freedom parade he was reduced to Sgt (the donkey that is, not the RAF Plod handler).
