The South Island also has some excellent green forests and rolling hills. Can't go to NZ and not visit the West Coast and Fiordland in the South Island (which is close to the Alps, too).
I'm guessing their is good training up near Auckland, since it's the biggest city, but it's not as nice up there, and it's full of JAFAs
