As a child I lived about 3 miles finals to Northolt and I vividly remember one such flypast in the 70s, with a group of about 6 -8 delta wing aircraft in formation to the south. I could swear Concorde was amongst them as well. For all the detractors, I say wind yer neck in. It was an event such as that in the 70s that stimulated my interest in aviation. These public demonstrations are important not just as a national demonstration of pride but a very good way of recruiting young men and women into a career in the Armed Forces. Yes there is lots of stretch but if the day comes when we are unable to publically display pride in our equipment and demonstrate the skill of our men and women then we should all pack up and just ride around in Toyota Hilux with AK47s.
