Nice torpedo
I am reminded of the time I was flying in a Twotter when I got hailed by a young lad departing somewhere in a C206. He and his newly arrived in PNG mate on area famil had found an old 250Lb bomb laying in the grass...complete with tail fins and 'little propellers' (his words).
"Yeah I have seen it why?"
"We're gonna drop it"
"Wha..."
I was empty so slid into close formation and to my....coonsternation... saw the newbie holding onto it in the back...they'd taken the doors off
I moved over from echelon right to WIDE echelon left
They went into a right orbit over some swamp and the newbie kicked it out the door....it wobbled a bit as it dropped clear before plunging into the swamp...and without exploding plunged so deep into the mud it is without doubt now 'safe'.
Sort of a shame it didn't go off really
Later on I asked them if it was weeping crystaline green stuff like most of the old bombs laying around PNG...yeah a little...do you know what that is...no...
Coulda (so easily) made a great story for the Darwin Awards.
