The French seem to take paperwork very seriously. I landed in France once and the checked paperwork, insurance etc, had been removed from the aircraft ! They wouldn't let me leave til they got it ! No one's fault but mine, but had quite a scare being escorted by the local Gendarmarie to the nearest fax machine !
