The uniform when I trained cost £280 which was paid over 9 equal installments. This amount might have changed since the company stopped using trolley bags for cabin crew - hopefully it is cheaper now. After 6 months (i.e. end of probation) you start to be paid a uniform allowance of £17.33 per month, so after you have been working there for 2 years, the company has effectively paid you enough money to cover your initial uniform payments.
You don't buy any luggage as you won't be nightstopping (unless one of the boys prangs the aircraft on landing
). Everything you need is provided by the company (with the exception of calculator & ice tongs!!!).
In training, for the first week you wear your own clothes, but after the first week you will be in uniform - just make sure that when you are staying in the Hotel Ibis (
) you change out of your uniform before you buy a drink at the bar!!!!
