You're a little unfair Kaptin. You couldn't discredit anything I say in my post.
The stand on one leg routine is still there for initial medicals; the epilepsy test IS discredited in most countries; your BMI would have to be extraordinarily high to fail on that criteria, and anybody who says being examined by a GA pilot is OK or a breeze is nuts. All of the JCAB examiners I've come in contact wiht wouldn't know if their butts were punched, bored or drilled.
And believe me I'm not a disillusioned pilot, but let's not get into a brawl over Japan. Some love it, and some less than love it, but that's OK. Jobear asked a question, and I contributed. I don't think it's a difficult medical in spite of its reputation; a little quirky perhaps, but not difficult.
