A girl i know jsut went over there in march she didnt have to pay for the medical but spent about $600 on vacinations etc. and it took about 8 weeks for them to contact her, but she through now and flying!
My virgin medical sounds the same as your qantas one.
And we also had in melbourne about 25 left too so sounds like they are looking for 25 in each city they visit. i heard they were taking 60 from each but that might be from each country. who knows!
