Widbodyengine. .The MD11 was off the the south of the end of Rwy28 in Dublin. A few hundred feet would have had him into the approach lights of Rwy10.... .The nose wheel and left main wheels were in the mud and the right main still on the runway.. .I know because i went to have a look at DAL stuck in the mud.....also.....heard from a friend in Atlanta that it was the Captain's retirement flight.....hmmmmmm what a way to go out eh????. .Plus was wondering who else was in the cockpit because on DAL pilots last flights the jumpseat rule is generally more relaxed..... .I wonder what the AAIB report will read like...... .The plane was ferried back to KATL earlier this evening..... .Rwy28 is still closed with a big hole in the ground where they had to dig it out...... .Winds all day in EIDW where gusting a max of 48kts from 250deg.. .Still tough way to end your career....in the mud in Dublin....instead of in the bar..... <img src="eek.gif" border="0">
