Harv's operates out of both Steinbach South (CKK7) and St. Andrews (CYAV). Not uncommon for trainers from both bases to come and play in Terminal Airspace........just remember to file a flight plan please. Makes my life easier
As for places to visit round the place, quite a few little fields around the place within a 2 hour flight. Gimli's proximity to Lake Winnipeg can certainly be a nice (Google story of Gimli Glider). Not uncommon for us to see cross-country filghts to Morden (CJA3) and Winkler (CKZ7), both to the south-west of Winnipeg. You have to remember that west of Steinbach is prairie so visually, not much from flat-land and lakes. The flight to Kenora (CYQK) takes you over the Canadian Shield, which means rocks and lakes
