Had same concerns - lot of money to shell out then lose your medical day after finishing your MCC! Like everyone else I would recommend you obtain your Class 1 medical first then you know for sure, but you can insure agianst loss of training fees etc with several companies - quick web-search will reveal some: one I know of is
