Not sure about that one, but I've had no problems with Acronis in the past when I've acutally cloned a disk for replacement.
Got any other spare HDDs? If you don't I'd go any buy another one for the solitary purpose of making a mirror once a month just in case the proverbial does hit the fan. That way it is just a simple swap and away you go.
