Hi 737-500 most Airlines and ab-initio courses have a minimum standard of Education.
I know if you want to apply for the Air-Corp you must have a minimum of 4 C's in honours subjects.
It was the same when Aer-Lingus were recruiting back in the day.
I think its more of a case that you will be able for the course and an indicator that you are able to apply yourself and follow a course of study.
So I would hang in there keep the head down and do your best.
It'll be all over in a few months and you will be free to pursue a career in aviation confident in the knowlege that your LC won't be a stumbling block later on.
Also if flying doesn't work out at least you have a good LC that will get you into college or a job.
Trust me you must prepare for every eventuality.
