advice on pollution?
I have recently had a 'debate' with a minor Governmental person from the so called North West Government Office & I believe that I was being fed bull.....However I did not have any relevant facts to provide an informed response. Perhaps some knowledgeable person can enlighten me so I can approach the relevant person.
I was informed that for one person flying on the 'average' flight from LPL or MAN to London (Whatever average may mean with so many variances) produces the equivalent pollution as one vehicle being driven daily between Liverpool and London for 365 days.
I asked exactly what type of aircraft and what sort of vehicle was used for this 'analysis', to be met with blank stares. Even so, I find this incredibly hard to believe (although it speaks volumes for her 'masters').
I would appreciate any response on this. I am not a pilot, nor journalist, but I do support the industry, particularly when it is being bad mouthed. I apologise if this is not the correct forum for this request.
