I doubt if I'll ever forget the sight of a gift wrapped Harvard, I was there on the ground watching.
Further to the briefing mix up. - The original plan was for two pallets (each carrying a Supacat - a three parachute load by the way) to be imediately followed by a stick of para. For whatever reason the plan was altered in the air and the paras were scrubbed, these details being passed to the Harvard via radio.
Considering the size of bang I heard there was very little damage to the aircraft mostly molten green nylon along the leading edge of both wings and the cowling. There was also considerable amounts of parachute fabric and rigging lines hanging off the airframe and wrapped around the prop boss.
By the way the load survived as the Harvard only managed to destroy one of the three parachutes.
