For you Emirates guys: per Charlie Murdoch's post referring to Alteon/Boeing IP's to train in Dubai. We got that 'offer' in late January and it was formally passed around in March. To date, only 1 Seattle based IP was interested. Subsequently, this same offer was published in various flight magazines. This retired captain is ex-UAL, with all the background that EK would have liked. He only wanted to go because of our pension debacle and minimized in his mind the provision that he have a firm 6 months in country contract, 2 weeks leave after 3 months. It was OK for his family situation to give this a try. Another Alteon IP asked for a modified 2 months on, 2 weeks off, etc. but they denied those terms. He declined to join. However, an Alteon IP working in Seoul ( they are all loosing their visas after 3 years. KCAA revenge!) accepted one of the slots. He called back frantically to Seattle to warn everyone else that nothing that was promised has come true. Horrible accomodations, no advance to help get started, etc. He is leaving on the first flight out. In essence, it sounds like the threads posted are only too true about certain managers. I'm training an ETI class right now and the captain gave me a low down on the people running EK; much the same as the threads posted. So, you EK guys...word is now out that promises from the EK managers are not forthcoming. IP's may not be coming out at all if this story gets passed around enough. Salary sounded way too good to be true. Sadly reality set in. Seems likes airplanes and airlines attract the absolute worst in managers. When and if you find a good one, protect him/her!

Cheers.....
