If it's not bird flu, Cancer or bad diet ... it's friggin' fungus!

Scary stuff. I use Alcon Opti-free Express and have recently started using Ciba Day & night lenses as someone here recommended. I've been sleeping with them in for a few weeks and they've been great. I occasionally take them out and wash them in solution then pop 'em back in, keep them fresh, ya know? If I do take them out at night, I wash them, store them and then wash them again in the morning before wearing.

The thing I've been wondering about is 'sleep', the yellow stuff sometimes around your eyes in the morning. I read that this forms as a result of the eyes "cleansing" themselves at night and 'sleep' is a build up of proteins, bacteria, dirt etc. that falls off or you wipe away hence keeping the eyes clean.

With continuous wear lenses or any other for that matter, surely the eyes can't cleanse properly with the big clump of Lotrafilcon, Silicon or whatever in the way?

Hmm, where are my glasses?
