Well, since I’ve enjoyed so much positive popularity with some of my other posts, I might as well offer one here as well (since I’ve donned my protective helmet)….
Reverse thrust is for assisting in slowing the aircraft – not for directional control. Sure, it can be used for directional control – and in dry conditions it probably doesn’t hurt. But habit patterns are hard to break and using reverse in slippery runway conditions is one of best and most sure ways of getting your aircraft into the mud.
OK. I’ve got the face-plate down and the chin strap snapped …
