I have two older brothers with the condition, both have had corneal transplants. One undertook a new laser treatment at St Guys in London specifically aimed at the condition to further improve his vision. He had improved vision within two days of the laser procedure and its still improving now-one year later. All he needs now is glasses, no contacts.
However, I don't know what the CAA/FAA take on the treatments are.
