hey coco...
I think the problem here's more deeprooted than we think..
"the result is that there are to be no more f/o landings allowed. How are the kids going to learn?"
We need to find a different system for our fresh CPL holders to gain experience. Most countries, minimum requirements on the right seat of a turboprop are CPL/500-1000 TT and 300 multiengine, now these are the minimum and they're in place for a reason.a type rating course after 200 hours on a cessna and 10 hours on a senaca is not enough,IMHO. OK, they do the supernumary time and the route checks but line flying is not the place to learn how to land an aircraft or how to react to a bounced landing etc etc...
With new cargo outfits coming up flying light turboprops and flight instruction or corporate flying (king airs) ...CPL holders need to gain experience before applying to the airlines and I think it's high time airlines upped their experience requirements in the interests of safety......
