I have lived in Hull all of my life, i do find other cities far more exciting but then people move here from Daan Saaf because they find it far more attractive and the cost of living is relatively cheap compared to other areas in the UK.
Niknak is right, there are some great pubs etc in the surrounding countryside. The best area to live, particularly in the Hull area is the 'west hull villages' such as Kirk ella, willerby, cottingham etc....
As niknak also says, make of it what you will, some love it some hate it.
