Look at the facts

Before the Government broke up Aer Rianta into three local entities there was a discussion, parts of which were held in Cork ,with members of the former board of Aer Rianta , on the share out of assets of Aer Rianta International Hooldings -Hotels, Duty Frees etc.

Options included consideration being given to splitting those "crown jewels" in various ways and the discussions were never formally or officially completed at least not transparently.
In the meantime ,the Dublin Airport Authority has simply grabbed the lot. While the DAA may look , sound and lately even act like the old Aer Rianta -it is not supposed to be a dusted down and repainted Aer Rianta -but an autonomous company -just like Shannon and Cork are supposed to be. Question -Does the DAA Think that it is still Aer Rianta ?

So who gave DAA the right to grab all the goodies? THey have no automatic right to these assets..... or was the whole adventure designed by former Minister Brennan just to shake off a certain Noel Hanlon and his cronies.

If Cork people stand for this they are fools, no one would dare try this one in Shannon, as they would be out of office in the next election. . Phone your TDs NOW and remind them of the next election. This is not just about increased airfares -it will relect on jobs, tourism and services in Cork.

As for Ryanair, a company which I greatly respect, and its comments that we should have put up some cheap facility at Cork, ,I think that in our present state of national economic wellbeing ,we can afford the "Luxury" of a modern comfortable Cork airport, in keeping with what the National coffers have already paid for and supported in Dublin and Shannon. After all Government did promise a level playing field.
