Question JAR ATPL(H) groundschool entry requirements

Question regarding JAR stuff:

I'm trying to work out exactly what the requirements for doing the CPL (or indeed ATPL) groundschool are, beyond a PPL. LASORS seems to indicate that you need to be ok to start your CPL (155 hours as PPL, >= 50 hours PIC), but it's not terribly clear - it seems like it could also be read to say that all you need to start the theoretical stuff is a PPL, so long as you meet the hour requirements when you start the CPL flight training.

The reason I ask is that I'm hoping to get my PPL around the end of the year, and I'd like to get started on the ATPL ground school (which are reputed to take about 12 months) while I build my hours, ideally over the same 12 months (eep!). Since the groundschool isn't terribly expensive, compared to everything else (around £2k-ish), this would allow me to spread the costs a bit, as well as get to an employable state quicker. Obviously, it rather depends on the entry requirements for ATPL(H) groundschool...

Anyone have any ideas?
