EK or not?
I'm a first time contributor to the forum, partly through fear of retribution and partly because I believe it seldom makes any difference, but this particular issue lies close to my heart.
Asking anyone at EK whether it's a good idea to join or not, is like asking someone who's just bought a cheap car whether its a good car or not. The honest side of human nature will force him to tell you that its a little slow and that it rattles, the proud side of that same nature will tell you that its got really great fuel economy.
Eliminate the possibility to hide truth behind pride and ask :"If you could turn the clock back, would you buy the same car? If you could turn the clock back, would you make the same decision to join EK?".
I can honestly say that in 8 1/2 years of asking this question, I've yet to find anyone who's been here for more than a year who doesn't wish he hadn't come.
The reasons are all listed on the forum, and they vary from person to person, but to quote a great song by Paul Simon:
"I don't know a soul that's not been battered,
I don't have a friend who feels at ease,
I don't know a dream that's not been shattered,
or driven to its knees."
Ask the right people only one question....."Would you do it again?"
