747 test blows nose door in Everett

A Boeing 747-400 freighter in final assembly at the Everett plant was significantly damaged Friday during a pressurization test.

No one was injured in the mishap, which occurred shortly after 1 a.m.

A Boeing Co. worker who saw the plane after the accident said the nose cargo door, which opens upward to allow for loading, blew out. The nose door shot up so far that it struck the cockpit, shattering the windows as well as causing structural damage to the fuselage, said the worker, who did not want to be identified.

Now that would have been something to see
