mobile unlock codes
15 months into an 12 month vodafone contract, I got my mobile unlock code from the High st Voda shop for free. Very useful - enabled me to get a simcard only in Oz.
Out of curiosity, can anyone explain how the multitude of unlocking companies actually work? If the codes are locked by the seller/operator to discourage you moving to another network, how come these businesses can legitimitately disable that lock.
Do they pay the Operators a fee, do they just hack the codes, is it completely legit, are there some bandits out there, what is a reasonable fee?
........... and what is the situation regarding PAYT mobiles?
