Hi,
As previous posts state it varys from airline to airline but there is pretty much a standard route...start at the bottom and work up whilst keeping your eyes open for any opportunities on the ground that might give you some more relevent experience for forthcoming promotions. If you want a meteoric rise through the ranks then it might be worth looking at the LO CO airlines, where turnover is greater which creates jobs (why?). Some of the charter outfits and better schedule carriers have a low turn over at the top which makes progression a little slower. But on the personal side I think its worth bearing in mind that its the nature of the job that keeps you in it. If you enjoy being crew and you like the company and its conditions then promotion will come second to your lifestyle.
