Do you have a friend with a laptop? Get him around to try, and make sure that you Google thorougly to tell your ISP what you think of them.
If you don't have a spare friend with a laptop, try a Knoppix disc on your machine, configure, test and abuse as suggested above.
As far as ISPs are concerned, there is one which rhymes with 'ten' - expensive but worth it.
