Permission to grow, sir?
Hello all.
I'm in the process of applying for the RAF and RN at the moment for aircrew.
I've browsed the forum for a while now and have picked up lots of useful tips for the testing process. However I have a problem which I don't think has been addressed by this forum- well a search brings up nothing.
I'm thinking of growing a moustache, not sure what style yet (possible a subdued handlebar), but I was wondering as this would make me stand out from my other clean shaven (yawn) potential officer colleagues, would it be to my gain or detriment.
When I went to airshows as a boy I noticed the abundance of aircrew with fine follicle features, yet when I go to them now I find there are hardly any. Was there a purge of these chaps or something after the Cold War?!
I think the moustache should make a comeback and I plan to lead from the front. I know I really should be worried about other things such as group planning, leadership exercises and what not (plus the fitness test), but I don't want to ruin my chances within the first minute of arriving.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
