Anyone have an idea why this is happening?
I think that when you close down your browser, it stores some display settings including the window size when it's not maximised. It also stores whether you want to open the browser with maximised windows. Sometimes a web page resets those settings while you're browsing, and so your stored preferences get messed up with you next close down the browser.
Although I've got no idea of the technicalities, I find that something like this often works:-
- Open your browser window, seeing it aggravatingly small.
- Drag the window all the way to the top left hand corner of the screen, then drag the bottom right hand corner of the window to fill the screen.
- Close the browser.
- Open the browser again, and click the "square" button in the top right hand corner to maximise the window (or double click the title bar, which is often faster). The window should maximise (although it may look little different from before as you've already manually changed the size of the window in the previous step).
- Close the browser.
- Open the browser again, when it should be back to how you like it. And even if it isn't, the non-maximised size of the window will actually be close enough to please.
