some airlines (regionals) can make you work in the morning, supply a hotel for you to rest near the airport, and then you work again in the afternoon! Now that's a short rest!
I believe this is to satisfy the extension of duty time.. for example, pilots can work up to 12 hours if they're provided, as stated, a hotel with rest and food facilities... (if i have my info correct)
