The sad thing is that it will be far easier for Cork to increase charges for the likes of Ryanair, easyJet etc than it will be to lay off workers. A short term solution, of course. When Ryanair cut back and if EZY quit as a result it will be down then to the nuclear button of getting rid of the dead wood. By then it will be too late for Cork Airport.

New routes! Little chance, alas. Cork will be hauntingly lucky to keep the business she has.
