As a US passport holder you would be eligible to apply as Australian based crew .You require a Valid passport that pemits entry to all the ports Qf flies to (which you have )and permanent residency status in Australia which gives you the right to work in oz.
I doubt if Qf would be bothered assisting you with premanent residency status if you don't already have it.
Unless of course you would be willing to work for a bowl of rice a day as your remuneration.
