I think some of the friction here is partly caused by the fact that Chewy seems to think ALL BA crew are old and have no life (correct me if I'm wrong Chewy). Well, that is certainly true in some cases, but I've been at BA for a while now (shorthaul) having moved from another airline, and without doubt 95% of crew have been a sheer pleasure to work with. But then age doesn't bother me.
I'm not going to stoke the fire here, I've given my recommendations. Chewy, you should deffo check out Virgin, BMI and maybe a few of the charters. Best of luck, hope you find what you're looking for. Do what's in your heart and you'll be fine...
