Ghana International Airlines (GIA), Ghana's new National Carrier is poised at providing travel services to destinations in the West African Region as early as Easter.
GIA plans to open routes in seven West African cities - Abuja, Freetown, Dakar Monrovia, Banjul, Lagos and Abidjan.
The addition of West African destinations to GIA's Accra London route is part of the Airline's vision of making Ghana the West African hub.
"The Hub will give the West Africa traveling public better routes to their destinations via our safe and on time flights, "said Brian Presbury, Chief Executive Officer of GIA.
The creation of the Regional hub also will make Accra an optimal location for GIA to establish its Regional maintenance operations.
GIA has been providing safe, affordable and on time service to the traveling public since its inaugural flight to London Gatwick in October last year.
In a related development, to execute the new strategic direction that Airlines has taken, Phil Mwakitawa, has joined GIA, he served in Kenya Airlines (GIA) as Vice President, Commercial. Until he joined GIA, he served in Kenya Airways in various capacities as; Country Manager for Malawi, Head of Network Planning, Alliances and Partners and Acting Commercial Director.
The Airline on the other hand has relieved of duty Albert Vitale who was until recently was the airline's Vice President for Operations.
