Use of speedbrakes in turbulence

I'm fairly sure all British reg. L-1011's had DLC but the ACS was deactivated, certainly the -1's,-50's, 200's and 500's that I flew, had DLC.
Lovely aircraft but apart from the 500, all were underpowered.
