Not a moronic question at all.

If you want to do that then i suggest that you just write direct to as many contacts as you can find. Use your initiative. I have no idea whether that would work.

That kind of experience would no doubt be useful but....
What I would suggest is getting some kind of work experience in the kind of law firm you want to work for. Getting a training contract at a good firm is not easy. The more legal experience, the better chance you have (that is not to say however that experience with an airline would count for nothing).

The following is what i have been told. I start at my law firm very soon. There are some other more knowledgable guys on this board who may be able to help you further.

Aviation law (as a solicitor - i assume you will become a solicitor) is basically divided into 3 areas.
Most "aviation" work is actually asset finance work. Working with clients (banks, leasing companies, airlines etc etc) to structure the purchase of engines, aircraft etc.
There is also the much smaller litigation side - usually dealing with insurance claims arising from anything from a mid air collision to a Cabin Crew trip and slip case. Firms like Clyde & Co are big here.
Then there is the very, very limited area of regulatory work. Not alot going on here as far as I can see, though it looks like interesting work.

Why not write direct to airlines' in house lawyers ? Most will have at least one i should imagine.
Try looking at the Legal 500 website
http://www.icclaw.com/l500/frames/inho_fr.htm

click on "in-house lawyers".
Or just phone the companies and ask for the legal dept contact details.

They may tell you where to stick it. They may remember what it was like to be you and give you a stint in their office. You never know...
That would be great experience

I also have a feeling that Airbus might offer a work experience scheme in Toulouse. Check their website.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do
